BA Alumna Janie Bryant wins costume designer award at 2009 Costume Designers Guild Awards
Another award was handed out this week for Mad Men as costume designer Janie Bryant won in the "Outstanding Period/Fantasy Television Series" category at last night's Costume Designers Guild Awards.
1985 Brenau Academy graduate Janie Bryant has received much notariety for her costume design work for Mad Men. Her vibrant and flirtatious designs for lead character, Joan, speak to her passion for vintage style with a flair.
"People ask me a lot if Joan will ever wear a mini-skirt or a shift or something, and I say, "uh, no!" I always think of Joan as that character who knows exactly how to play it, and who works everything she has. Joan, she's always worn fitted garments; she always will wear fitted garments, until the day she's six feet under!"
Earlier this school year, Janie Bryant made a visit to the Brenau campus, speaking to Academy and University students about her life as a hollywood designer and the training and studies that lead to her success.
